History and Heritage is synonymous with this property because a family of four generations has been involved with its operation since the late 1800s. The very first sugar mill in the lower Burdekin Delta was built on this original plantation where the family were involved with the construction and operation of the Seaforth mill. They later purchased the property from the English aristocrats and it has remained in their possession until this day.

The property is 10 minutes drive from the prosperous town of Ayr and 1 hour to the city and port of Townsville. Approximately 600 acres is utilised for cultivation and past sugar cane production has exceeded 22,000 tons, however today various alternate crops are grown with 100 acres currently growing corn, soya bean, sorghum etc. The farm currently grows approx 20,000 tonnes of sugar cane.

With an annual rainfall of 35" - 40" and Burdekin signifying prolific supplies of water and irrigation, this property has a combination of spear (bore) water and open water supplies through North Burdekin Water Board channels from the Burdekin River. The Lower Burdekin water entitlement is 1900 megs and bore supply is unlimited.

Twelve electric and diesel powered pumping plants situated throughout the property deliver water direct to crops through a network of underground 15' pipes and plastic fluming. All irrigation is flood through furrows and fields have been laser levelled with controlled fall to give efficient irrigation. Further development is possible on this property with cane production capable of an increase of 35% as well as other crops including rice which has increasing potential with Sunrice setting up storage and processing plant in the district at Brandon.

The property"s Wagu stud is running approx 240 head of cattle but is capable of carrying 500 head.Cattle land is fully fenced and the tree shaded cattle yards will handle 500 head and is equipped with crush,5 gate round sorting yard,2 loading ramps,water troughs and weight platform

The grazing land and improved pastures guarantee year round feed with an abundant wetland with rich para grass and areas of salt couch that border tidal creeks and mangroves that will guarantee you a fat mud crab when the urge for a treat beckons.

An added resource of the property is an area of ancient sandhills which has the potential for a commercial sand mining operation with reserves of millions of metres of valuable sand becoming sought after with Townsville's expansion.
